Overview

A data-driven motion visualisation exploring how modern music genres emerged, spread, and influenced one another across time and geography. Using waveform-inspired animation mapped onto a global context, the piece translates cultural evolution into an expressive visual system.

Using The Guardian’s editorial data, I mapped modern genres like Rock, Hiphop, and Dance globally, placing each in its geographic context. Waveform-inspired motion structures represented sound and visual metaphors for cultural energy and momentum.
